AMSOIL ATF is a stable formulation that lasts longer in service than conventional ATFs. It maintains its viscosity, friction and lubricating properties for extended periods of time, even under severe conditions. AMSOIL ATF maximizes transmission performance and service life while
reducing maintenance costs through longer drain intervals. Amsoil ATF is recommended for change intervals up to 100,000 miles in normal usage, or 50,000 miles in "severe" use.

How can one fluid meet all these different specifications?

First, Amsoil formulated ATF to be the best fluid they could make it. Unlike other lubricant formulators, Amsoil uses the highest quality ingredients available, while others use lowest quality that will still meet the specification. Is it safe to switch to synthetic ATF?

Yes, you can switch your car to synthetic ATF at any time. Synthetic ATF is completely compatible with conventional ATF, so you don’t have to worry about a little bit of old oil in the transmission mixing with the synthetic and causing problems. It is recommended, however, that you thoroughly drain and flush the transmission, and change the filter. See the links above for more.

No worries! Most quick-lubes, independent shops, and even dealerships will allow you bring in your own oil and filter for them to install. If the shop you use won’t allow you to bring in your own fluids, find another shop that values your business!
